Trial Bay Gaol

This striking 1886 sandstone gaol sits inside Arakoon National Park on the shores of Trial Bay. Built by inmates constructing a breakwater, it later served as an internment camp during World War I. Visitors can climb the watchtower for sweeping coastal views and explore the ruins and on-site museum, and guided twilight tours are available after dark.
